This powerful, yet simple tool can be used to:

  1. Identify your goals,
  2. Your big reasons for why you want them,
  3. Practical and actionable things you can do to accomplish them.

This tool will help you to break down short-term and medium-term goals. Like with anything, consistency is key. Continue to take small actions, daily towards your goals.

  1. Your goals must be clear and well defined.
  2. Include precise amounts, dates, and so on in your goals so you can measure your degree of success.
  3. Make sure that it’s possible to achieve the goals you set. Break it down into bit-sized chunks.

If your why is big enough, the excuses won’t matter.

This column of the the Pocket Mentor is one of the most important. You need to identify why you really want this goal. Sometime we create goals because society tells us we need to have this or achieve it. Or perhaps we may be trying to fulfil the incomplete goals and dreams of our parents. Free yourself from the vows and oaths of your parents and ancestors.

The Juicy Mango

As a kid growing up in Australia, I loved when mangos came into season. They were so sweet with a succulent texture, unlike any other fruit. However, it was always a very messy affair to eat it. Juice would run down my hands and be all over my face, and I would be all sticky. The fruit fibres would get stuck in my teeth. But it was so delicious, it was worth it!

Mangos are now sold in the supermarket pre-cut. But somehow they are never as tasty. The experience is just not the same. I realised I loved the messy part of eating them. It was fun. It brought out the inner child in me. The sticky messy was all part of the whole experience, and therefore I could enjoy the reward even more.

Create goals that are this juicy, delicious and worth the effort. You need to feel passionate, excited and highly motivated to achieve them. You need to be so passionate, that when life becomes sticky (aka – difficult) that you will do whatever it takes to have it!

The Secret to the Secret is ACTION

Remember, you are a spiritual being in a physical body. And physical action is STILL NEEDED to make it happen. Taking action is a very important step; as the universe is in constant motion. I take immediate and daily action towards my goals, whether it’s 5 mins to send an important email or a whole day instructing a class. I then feel I am making progress and I see it in my results, which propels me further to pursue my long-term vision.

Post your comments below on the goals you’ll achieve over the coming 30 days!
